Defilement, the Fast Killer of Future Leaders



Many Ghanaian ladies have become a victim of what we call defilement. Some are rape during robbery attacks, early marriages at a tender age, broken homes, or pressure from peers.

What do we mean by defilement?
Defilement is any sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 18 years, whether or not the Childs consent. The awful acts which is a crime under the laws of the country causes great trauma to victims.

Children who are defiled have physical injuries inside or outside their bodies which includes cuts, tears, severe bleeding and damage to internal reproductive organs which sometimes requires surgery.

Victims of this inhuman act may undergo psychological damage which may also include depression, fear, anxiety, distrust and sometimes suicidal thoughts.

 Effects such as HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases, interruption of school (as victims are forced to drop out of school) are all results of defilement.
