AKUFFO ADDO MUST PAST RTI BILL BEFORE END OF OFFICE

The founder of Media Foundation for West Africa, professor Kwame karikari has challenged President Akufo- Addo to ensure that the right to information bill is passed into law before he leaves office as president of Ghana.

According to prof. karikari, President Akufo- Addo played a significant role in ensuring the repeal of the criminal libel law and the fight for human right and justice in this country and it will be a dent on his image if he is not able to ensure the passage of the right to information bill.

He made this disclosure in an interview with Atinka news at the 2018 world press day held in Accra.

Mr. Karikari also urged the inspector general of police, David Asante Appeatu to put a stop to the brutalities caused by the Ghana police officers on journalist at the discharge of their duties, which he believes is a hindrance to Press freedom in the country as Ghana celebrates world press freedom day.
