NDC flagbearership: Mahama to officailly declare his stands today


 Former President John Dramani Mahama is expected to today, Thursday, 23 August 2018, officially announce his intention to contest the National Democratic Congress’ flag bearer position ahead of the 2020 elections.

Mr Mahama, when he declares, will be contesting the former CEO of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Sylvester Mensah; Mr Ekwow Spio Garbrah, a former Trade and Industry Minister; Former Vice-Chancellor of the University for Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Prof. Joshua Alabi; Cape Coast South MP, Kweku Ricketts-Hagan; private legal practitioner Elikplim Agbamava and handyman Stephen Atubiga.

Ahead of his declaration, Mr. Mahama on Wednesday, 22 August 2018 called on the founder of the NDC, Mr Jerry John Rawlings at his office in Accra.

Mr Mahama commended the founder for re-energizing the party’s Council of Elders and participating actively in its meetings.

He indicated that a re-energized Council of Elders will instill a strong sense of order in the party structure.
